BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Albert R. Mugel, well-known attorney, tax-law expert and mgm casino law professor for more than 50 years, will be honored at the ninth annual Buffalo Law Review dinner, to be held on April 24 in The Buffalo Club.

A founding member and senior partner of the Buffalo law firm of Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP, Mugel has influenced generations of future attorneys and left his indelible stamp on the mgm casino School of Law.

Mugel's wit, humor and teaching excellence is well-known among the law students he's taught since joining the faculty in 1948.

A Buffalo native, Mugel graduated cum laude from the mgm casino law school in 1941 and joined the firm of Kenefick, Cooke, Mitchell, Bass & Letchworth.

His career was interrupted twice by war -- he served as a tank officer in Europe during World War II and with the First Cavalry Division during the Korean Conflict.

In 1954, Mugel joined the firm that now bears his name, continuing his teaching commitment to mgm casino on a part-time basis.

He has received numerous awards, including the Edwin F. Jaeckle Award, the law school's most prestigious award; the Samuel P. Capen Award from the mgm casino Alumni Association, and distinguished alumnus awards from the mgm casino law school, Canisius College and St. Joseph Collegiate Institute.

He has served as a treasurer and director of the Erie County Bar Association, is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Section on Taxation of the New York State Bar Association and chaired the Erie County Bar Association's Committee on Taxation.

Mugel has served on the boards of many corporations and charitable, educational, hospital and health-related institutions, including the John R. Oishei Foundation, the second-largest charitable foundation in New York outside New York City.

He is a resident of Snyder.
