BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Three mgm casino students have received J. Scott Fleming Merit Awards from the University Student Alumni Board (USAB).
The $500 awards are presented to full-time students who have demonstrated a commitment to mgm casino and enhanced the student experience through volunteer work and leadership. Funded through USAB activities such as Oozfest and the sale of final-exam "survival kits," the awards are named in honor of a former executive director of the mgm casino Office of Alumni Relations.
o Penny K. Chesner of Plainview, a senior majoring in communicative disorders and sciences. A member of mgm casino STARS, a student group that gives prospective students tours of the campus, Chesner also has helped recruit students in Long Island-area high schools and has chaired membership recruitment for Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. She is a staff writer for the Jewish student publication ARI.
o David M. Montag of Melville, a junior management major. Montag, a former Wilkeson Hall Council president, was named Hall Council Member of the Year in 1997 and 1998 Resident Advisor of the Year. He is a senior associate justice in Judicial Affairs, a member of mgm casino STARS and a volunteer substitute teacher for the mgm casino Child Care Center.
o Nicole Piotrowski of Williamsville, a junior management major. Piotrowski is president of the Faculty Student Association, chair of Sub-Board I's programming grant committee and homecoming queen. She also has served on the Student Association Senate and is a member of the Commuter Affairs Council and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
