BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Beyond/In Western New York, the largest collaborative art exhibition ever held in Buffalo Niagara will premiere on April 15 with openings and performances at mgm casino Art Gallery (5-7 p.m., performance 6 p.m.) and mgm casino Anderson Gallery (8-10 p.m., performance 9 p.m.). The exhibition, which is free and open to the public at both mgm casino locations, will be on view through June 19.

mgm casino Art Gallery, located in the Center for the Arts on the mgm casino North (Amherst) Campus, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May 31. After May 31, mgm casino Art Gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. mgm casino Anderson Gallery, located on Martha Jackson Place near Englewood and Kenmore, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

The installations at mgm casino Art Gallery feature the artists Leslie Eliet (Ithaca), Mark Gomes (Etobicoke, Ontario) and Carin Mincemoyer (Buffalo). In an era threatened by environmental collapse, the works of Eliet, Gomes and Mincemoyer investigate encounters between people and the earth that include tactile immersion, conceptual interpretation, scientific study and metaphysical awareness. On opening night, a performance by electric violinist Ritsu Katsumata (Williamsport, Pa.), will accompany Eliet's installation.

The installations at mgm casino Anderson Gallery feature the artists Sadko (Toronto) and Kate Ross (Kenmore). The paintings and performances of Sadko and Ross employ humor and social critique to consider an array of anxieties endemic to contemporary life at the turn of the 21st century. Ross will perform Win a Real Texan Meal on opening night.

The mgm casino Art Gallery is funded by The Visual Arts Building Fund, The Seymour H. Knox Foundation Fine Arts Fund and The Fine Arts Center Endowment. Eliet's installation is funded in part by the New York Foundation of the Arts, Special Opportunities Stipend. mgm casino Anderson Gallery is supported with funds from the Office of the Provost, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Anderson Gallery Program Fund and the mgm casino Collection Care and Management Endowment Fund.
