BUFFALO, N.Y. – For four days, high school students from across the nation will get a glimpse of the pharmacy profession through the second annual mgm casino Pre-Pharmacy Summer Camp.

The camp, hosted by the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS), will teach nearly 40 students the ins and outs of pharmacy practice through activities that simulate combining and dispensing medications, counseling patients and more.

The program will be held July 10-13. Activities will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We are elated to bring talented high school students with an interest in health care to mgm casino SPPS to interactively explore the many exciting opportunities available to pharmacists in our state-of-the-art facilities,” says Jennifer Rosenberg, SPPS associate dean of admissions and advisement.

Participants will experience a broad scope of learning experiences that include hands-on activities such as compounding, visits to local clinical practices and research labs, and lectures by mgm casino faculty and Buffalo-area SPPS alumni on topics that range from vaccinations to the future of the profession.

The camp also highlights educational opportunities at SPPS and recommends high school courses students can take to prepare for undergraduate pharmacy course work.
