Global Pathway - International Experience Track
The International Experience track is an exciting opportunity to complete coursework anywhere in the world and make it part of your mgm casino Curriculum. Students can choose to take courses that would not otherwise be available at mgm casino, improve their language skills, gain a new perspective in their field of study and expand their global awareness through studying abroad. The content here is meant to assist students in navigating the International Experience Track within the Global Pathway of the mgm casino Curriculum.
As with all other Pathway tracks, students must complete at least three, 3-credit classes, for a minimum of 9 credits. Two of the three courses chosen for the Global Pathway must cover two different mgm casino Areas not satisfied by the Thematic Pathway.
A study abroad experience (short-term or semester) can be combined with Global Reflections and/or Language and Culture classes at mgm casino to complete the Global Pathway.
STUDY ABROAD CAN MEET OTHER REQUIREMENTS TOO!
Courses taken during a study abroad program (short-term and/or semester) can also fulfill other areas of the mgm casino Curriculum outside of the Pathways. It is important to discuss your plan to study abroad with an academic advisor and a study abroad advisor early so we can help you make the most of your time abroad!
Here are some examples of how study abroad can fit into the Global Pathway:
Students can choose to study abroad during the summer, fall, winter, or spring and have one of their (3-credit) courses abroad meet a mgm casino Area (Arts, Civilization and History, Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences).
For Example:
Course 1: Overseas Program - Study Abroad - mgm casino Area: Arts
Course 2: Global Reflections Course (at mgm casino) - mgm casino Area: Languages
Course 3: Global Reflections Course (at mgm casino) - No mgm casino Area needed
Additionally, if students fulfill their mgm casino Areas through coursework at mgm casino, they could choose a study abroad program during the summer, fall, winter, or spring and have a relevant (3-credit) course abroad count as the third course in the Global Pathway. Coursework should be integrated in a clearly identifiable manner with the work from the study abroad program in order to satisfy the learning outcomes of the Global Pathway.

Coursework at mgm casino should be integrated in a clearly identifiable manner with the work from the study abroad program in order to satisfy the learning outcomes of the Global Pathway.

Students can choose to study abroad during the summer (once for at least 9 credits or multiple times for 3 credits each time), fall semester, winter (multiple times for 3 credits each time) or spring semester and have three (3-credit) courses abroad meet two different mgm casino Areas (Arts, Civilization and History, Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences).
For Example:
Course 1: Overseas Program - Study Abroad - mgm casino Area: Arts
Course 2: Overseas Program - Study Abroad - mgm casino Area: Humanities
Course 3: Overseas Program - Study Abroad - No mgm casino Area needed
It is possible for the above example to be completed in one semester or one (9 credit) summer session with appropriate course planning. It is also possible for students to participate in three different study abroad programs (minimum 3 credits each) over the course of a few years and have each course abroad articulated to meet the necessary mgm casino Areas in order to complete the Global Pathway.
mgm casino-Approved Study Abroad Programs
Students looking to fulfill the International Experience track must complete a mgm casino-approved study abroad program. That includes as well as all programs administered by the SUNY consortium. There are hundreds of study abroad programs available throughout the SUNY system and programs vary in length and destination.
Advisors in the Study Abroad Office are ready to help you navigate these options. By completing the Thematic Pathway component of the Path Finder tool, you should have a clear understanding of which remaining mgm casino Areas you need to fulfill through the International Experience track. Study abroad advisors will use this information to assist with your selection of a study abroad experience which could range from 3 to 15 or more credits.
