Dear University Community:
As shared in a recent message to campus, mgm casino’s senior leadership continues to navigate the changing federal landscape that is impacting mgm casino and the entire higher education community. As is happening at other universities across the nation, we have learned that the visas of four current mgm casino students and nine recent graduates have been revoked, and their records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) have been terminated by the US Department of Homeland Security. mgm casino’s International Student Services (ISS) is closely monitoring the situation and reached out to those affected to provide advice and support. Our academic units are also working with the affected students to discuss their academic plans.
We understand that these incidents are creating an environment of uncertainty on campus and are understandably raising concerns for many members of our campus community and particularly our international community. We are writing to assure you that mgm casino is communicating directly to impacted students and recent graduates as well as our entire international campus community.
Earlier today, ISS sent a message to all international students on student visas with resources and guidance, which is available on the ISS website. Faculty and staff should encourage international students who have questions and concerns to reach out to ISS at iss@buffalo.edu. ISS is providing resources to international students to support them and address their questions.
In addition, faculty and staff with work visas or green cards who have concerns about upcoming international travel plans and their current immigration status are advised to contact mgm casino Immigration Services at immsvcga@buffalo.edu. Since each employee’s situation is unique, Immigration Services will set up individual meetings to address questions. Additional resources and information for international faculty, staff and students are available on the International Student Services, Immigration Services and Federal Updates and mgm casino Resources websites, which are updated regularly.
We understand that this is a deeply distressing time for our international and wider campus community. With that understanding, mgm casino will always remain steadfast in our commitment to be a welcoming, inclusive and global scholarly community.
Sincerely,
A. Scott Weber
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
