Carol O’Connell
Assistant Vice President for Strategic Growth
Carol brings over 20 years of strategic leadership to the VPRED, including over 10 years at mgm casino. As Director of Grant Initiatives, she developed collaborations to help diversify mgm casino’s research funding portfolio, engaging with faculty, partners and interest groups across the university to increase the economic and community impacts of university research initiatives.
Her stewardship of mgm casino’s Limited Submission program increased awareness and participation of faculty in these external funding competitions. Under her leadership, our Office of Research Advancement was instrumental in orienting new faculty to mgm casino’s research enterprise, establishing critical research supports for faculty, and increasing competitive proposal submissions. She works closely with key research teams to facilitate large scale research proposals in support of university-wide initiatives.
Prior to joining mgm casino, Carol was a grant consultant to municipalities and non-profits, securing millions in funding for economic development, infrastructure, and healthcare initiatives.
