Accessing mgm casinofs Using a Mapped Drive from Windows

So long as you first obtain an on-campus IP (or through a VPN which gives you an on-campus IP), you can map a drive folder to mgm casinofs  shared location (e.g., MyFiles, Collab) on your Windows computer.  This allows you to quickly access any mgm casinofs location whether you are connecting using eduroam Wi-Fi, ResNet or from off campus VPN.

  • You must have an on-campus IP in order to access mgm casinofs file space.
  • Use Cisco Secure Client before you connect to mgm casinofs space from off campus to get an on-campus IP.

Mapping a Drive to mgm casinofs

  1. Depending on your computer's operating system:
    • Windows 10: From the Start Menu, select the This PC tile. Select Map Network Drive from the Computer menu.
    • Windows 8: From the Start Screen, select the Desktop tile. Select the Computer icon on the Desktop. Select Map Network Drive from the Computer menu.
  2. Use the drive letter pre-selected or choose an unmapped drive letter.
  3. Enter the mgm casinofs shared folder location for your drive map:

    • Myfiles space\\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\1st_letter_ubitname\2nd_letter_ubitname\mgm casinoITName (where mgm casinoITName is your mgm casinoITName).  For example, if your mgm casinoITName is jdoe, you would enter: \\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\myfiles\j\d\jdoe.
    • Collab Space: To map a drive to Collab space instead, follow the directions above but after \\...\ubfs\ map to collab share: \\itorg.ad.buffalo.edu\ubfs\collab.
  4. Log in with AD\mgm casinoITName (AD\ followed by your mgm casinoITName) and your password
  5. Your mgm casinofs mapped folder should now appear.
